If you have now arrived here from visiting Jil Jacobsen blog http://www.stampinhands.com/ and admiring her beautiful work, then you are on the right track.
My nontraditional Mothers day card with this oriental image from SparklenSprinkle, is dedicated to all those women around the world who have "Dared to follow their dreams".
I can think of quite a few, here are some you might recognise.
American Abolitionist and Quaker, Lucretia Mott.
Russian cosmonaut, Valentina Tereshkova
Macedonian, Mother Theresa winner of the Nobel Peace prize.
The assassinated former Prime minister of India
Indria Gandhi.
Polish born Marie Curie the famous scientist.
Eleanor Roosevelt one of the first women elected to the American senate.
Queen Victoria of England one of the few people to rule an entire Empire.
Amongst these famous ladies who "Dared to follow their dreams" I would have to add my own mother Nellie Bentley.
She was the inspiration to MY dreams and encouraged me through all my early years, but unfortunately she never lived to see me become the first woman Trade Union Officer in my profession. She also actively encouraged me with my love of art and the written word, that was later to bring me some small recognition as a designer and writer.
I would be very grateful if you would leave me some small comment after reading my"blurb".
Of course that helps you too,and gives everyone a chance for Blog hop candy.

Wonderful card, Joan! Love the Ikebana image and your tribute to your mom is really heartwarming.
I never would have thought to use black on a Mothers' day card, but it works really well!
What a great challenge to dare us to live our dreams! Loved the story about your Mom. My Mom is my hero and I'm lucky enough to still have her in my life. Thanks for sharing your beautiful creation!

Great inspirational quote for us all to Dare to Follow our Dreams
Love the detail in the card. Beautiful!
That card is absolutely beautiful! And it is such a different way to approach a Mother's Day card. Very inspirational indeed!
Loved your story about your mom. So sorry she is no longer with us. Your card is amazing. Cheesy
Mothers hold their childrens hands for a short time and their hearts forever. Thanks for the beautiful card.

Inspirational card and story. I think we all strive to please our parents. My Mom too is very special and the love she shares with my family has inspired me to be a better person. Love the oriental influence on this card. Very peaceful. Thanks Joan
Love the card and the sentiment :-)
Joan, my friend, I love it. It is a beautiful Asian work of art. I do believe you are a gal who followed her dream as well. I know we are so lucky you did as those artful treasurers you post are always so amazing.

I not only love this sentiment for Mother's Day, I also love the accented black and white. Fantastic!
The card is so lovely. The neutral grays and whites in the background really make the focus image stand out! Love touch of color in the image. Thanks so much for sharing about your mother, and what an impressive list of women who Followed Their Dream!
So very classic
Gorgeous card and a wonderful tribute.
Great detail work! Your Mom sounds wonderful--thanks for sharing.
Love the Asian spin.
OoooooOOOO! Love the inspiration and I ALWAYS follow my dreams...especially when it comes to playing in my art room. TY....and keep sprinkling and sparkling...love it!
I like the colors you used and the sentiment on the front of the card. So many times mothers are so involved with their families that they don't take time to follow their own dreams. Great job. Karen Howard

A very lovely card... and a heartwarming story. I am moved as you have reminded me of those women who have made history. Your Mom seems like a great lady.
Great card. I'm sure you mom would have been proud.
Lovely card. What a wonderful compliment to all these women, especially your mother.
There are very few things in a day that my mom didn't have a part in. Born in the South, she was the "true southern lady," soft spoken, lady like, with a will and back of steel. I thank her and you for making this so special. Lynne
Joan, this is a "WONDER full" card and your message is an important one for all of us to remember! Many of us are so lucky to have had awesome Mothers. We can still enjoy our memories and still LEARN from them!
